Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.
I realized yesterday in doing lots of updates to the site that I had not mentioned my job change for this coming fall! For the last four years I have taught fourth grade at RISD Academy. It is a very rewarding school at which to work, but it is also a very difficult school. Various circumstances throughout the year probed me to consider transferring to a different school after this school year ended. With a great deal of prayer, I decided to request a transfer to Prairie Creek Elementary School, another RISD school where my friend Julie has been a sixth grade teacher for a number of years.
After two months of "vacation," I returned to school on Monday, August 11 to a room full of boxes. I had moved at the end of last school year into a new classroom and had not been allowed back into the building all summer because of roof repairs on the school. We had staff development first thing on Monday morning and I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of work that needed to be done. Amazingly enough, the room came together (and looked better than ever!), plans got written, copies got made, and when the kiddos walked through the door on Wednesday, August 20th, I was fully prepared (well, as prepared as one can be!).
