A true friend is one soul in two bodies.
I realized yesterday in doing lots of updates to the site that I had not mentioned my job change for this coming fall! For the last four years I have taught fourth grade at RISD Academy. It is a very rewarding school at which to work, but it is also a very difficult school. Various circumstances throughout the year probed me to consider transferring to a different school after this school year ended. With a great deal of prayer, I decided to request a transfer to Prairie Creek Elementary School, another RISD school where my friend Julie has been a sixth grade teacher for a number of years. Despite Julie's last-minute decision to retire, I chose to continue pursuing the job and I got it! This fall I will be team-teaching fifth grade with one other teacher, Erin Day, who is also in her mid-twenties. In addition to being a much smaller school, Prairie Creek is also a national blue ribbon school, so I feel very fortunate to have gotten the job. The demographics at Prairie Creek are much different from the Academy, so the challenges are sure to be very different, as well. I'm really looking forward to the change and I'm excited to start teaching a new group of kids new curriculum. I will be teaching Math to the whole grade level and Erin will teach all of the Science. We will each teach our own Reading / Language Arts and Social Studies. It's sure to be a challenging and exciting school year!
