A true friend is one soul in two bodies.
After two months of "vacation," I returned to school on Monday, August 11 to a room full of boxes. I had moved at the end of last school year into a new classroom and had not been allowed back into the building all summer because of roof repairs on the school. We had staff development first thing on Monday morning and I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of work that needed to be done. Amazingly enough, the room came together (and looked better than ever!), plans got written, copies got made, and when the kiddos walked through the door on Wednesday, August 20th, I was fully prepared (well, as prepared as one can be!). Now, several weeks later, I am recovering from sleep deprivation (I've been doing 11-hour days since I walked back through my classroom doors). I'm getting into the groove and starting to feel like everything is back to normal. I love my new room and my new location which is much more central than my old room. When you work with nine other fourth grade teachers, it is very important to stay in the loop and my new room location is in the middle of everything. It's hard to believe I'm into my fourth year of teaching at the Academy! At a school as transient as ours, anything longer than two or three years feels like a lifetime!
